Hello everyone, and Happy Loy Krathong Day!
I hope your evening is filled with light, gratitude, and beautiful moments of letting go so you can make room for new, wonderful things in your life. This festival has always been one of my favourites — it’s such a gentle reminder to release what no longer serves us and welcome new blessings with an open heart. Whether you’re floating a krathong on the river or simply lighting a candle at home, I hope you take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and what you’re ready to invite next.
This time of year, I always find myself reflecting on what I’ve done and accomplished — the lesson learned, the progress made, and the small victories along the way — while also planning and setting intentions for the year ahead. It’s like giving myself space to pause, acknowledge, and realign before stepping into the next chapter.
It’s 1 a.m. here in England, and I just woke up — feeling calm, grateful, and inspired to set my intentions and share this quiet moment with you before the day begins. There’s something about the stillness of early morning that brings so much clarity. As I sit here with my cup of coffee, I thought I would update you about what’s been happening.
Since my last post, where I shared that I’m Back to Teaching Thai Again, life has been beautifully full. I’ve been busy creating new blog posts over on the Thai Language Tuition UK website — sharing helpful study tips, vocabulary, and little glimpses into Thai culture that make learning the language more fun and meaningful.
One of my favourite posts this week is all about Loy Krathong — Thailand’s Festival of Water and Lights. I’ve included a specially curated vocabulary list so you can learn the words and phrases needed to talk about this beautiful festival in Thai. From floating your krathong on the water to lighting candles and making wishes, you’ll get the language tools to describe it all.
Last week, I also shared Discover Thai Ghosts and Folklore This Halloween — a fascinating look into Thailand’s rich beliefs about spirits, ghosts, and the stories passed down through generations. I explore the different types of ghosts in Thai culture, giving you a unique way to connect with Thai traditions while expanding your Thai vocabulary.
I’m always finding new ways to help you learn Thai — your way, through stories, culture, and little tips that make the language come alive. Be sure to stop by the TLT-UK Blog often — there’s always something new to discover.
And while we’re on the topic of learning. I want to share something I’ve been working on behind the scenes: my Amazon Store! I actually created it back in 2023 and published My Thai Words Journal, but life got busy, and I didn’t get a chance to promote it properly.
This journal is designed to help you organise your Thai vocabulary, create your own Thai word bank, and personalised your Thai learning. It’s a handy companion for anyone looking to make their Thai study more structured, practical, and enjoyable — a little toolkit to support your learning journey. I even wrote a post about it on the TLT-UK blog, which you can check out here: Organise Your Thai Vocabulary with My Thai Words Journal.
This week, I’ve been reflecting a lot on how I didn’t give my Amazon store the attention it truly deserved. Back then, I simply didn’t have the time to learn how to edit books for the platform, and other projects kept taking priority. But this week, I feel a strong pull to return to this old, unfinished project — to finally give it the care and focus it deserves.
Part of me is inspired by small dreams that keep me motivated, like seeing my picture on the back of the book one day, just like Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote. It may sound simple, but for me, it represents a moment of pride, a reminder of what I’ve created, and a little spark of encouragement to keep sharing my passion for Thai language and culture with all of you.
I guess I’m really feeling the influence of the Wheel of Fortune, which I shared in my last post — The Wheel of Fortune Brings Change, Growth, and Opportunity. Lately, it seems to be showing up in my life in a very tangible way. It’s that sense of sudden change, a new opportunity, or even a gentle nudge to return to something meaningful from your past.
For me, that ‘something’ is my Amazon store. It’s like the Universe is reminding me that what I started before still has value, and now is the perfect time to revisit it. The Wheel of Fortune isn’t just about change happening randomly; it’s about recognising opportunities when they appear and taking action — even if it’s something you paused or put aside a while ago.
So, this week, I’ve been dedicating time to editing Understanding the Functions of Words in Thai, making it ready and available for those who prefer holding a physical book in their hands. It’s been a rewarding process to return to this project — and I’m thrilled to share that it’s now published and live on Amazon Store! I hope it becomes a helpful companion on your Thai learning journey! It will also make a good gift of knowledge for Christmas if you know someone who is learning Thai.
And that’s it for this update! Thank your for taking the time to catch up with me and share in these little moments of reflection, learning, and creativity. I’m so grateful for your support and for being part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to share more lessons, stories, and resources with you in the weeks ahead — so keep an eye on the TLT-UK Blog and my updates here. Have a wonderful day, no matter how you’re celebrating this Loy Krathong.
With all my heart, 💛 — Urai
